Salary sacrifice is a way of getting a shiny new EV saving up to 40%. The payments come out before tax, so your taxable income drops and you pay less in Income Tax and National Insurance.
In other words: money that would usually disappear to HMRC goes towards your new wheels instead.
And with Octopus EV, your monthly payment bundles in 4,000 free miles or a charger plus insurance, servicing, tyres, maintenance, breakdown cover, the whole shebang.
Personal leasing is more like a long-term rental but without the nice tax perks.
You’ll need an upfront deposit, plus monthly payments, and at the end you hand the car back or, if allowed, pay a big lump sum to keep it. No tax savings, no extras rolled in… just a regular lease.
Unless, you go with our Intelligent EV personal leasing package of course. In which case, you do get a few extra perks thrown in.
What’s the difference between salary sacrifice and personal leasing?
Personal leasing explained
Both costings are based on 40 year old, 40% taxpayer taking out a 48 month lease with 5k miles per year. Personal lease rentals and other items are estimated averages from third party sources and will vary by driver and location. Insurance is usually the biggest variable. Pricing correct as of 09/03/2026.
